La police judiciaire d’Agadir, une ville du sud-ouest marocain, a procédé en début de semaine à l’arrestation de deux homosexuels, dont un touriste canadien de 35 ans, pour débauche et détention de vidéos «immortalisant» leurs ébats amoureux.
A l’origine de l’affaire, une plainte pour viol, déposée par l’un de deux hommes, un agent de sécurité marocain, âgé de 25 ans, qui aurait en vérité délibérément choisi d’accuser son compagnon d’abus, «parce qu’il craignait que ce dernier ne partage sur internet les vidéos filmées à son insu”.
Selon la presse locale, le ressortissant canadien a spontanément déclaré avoir eu effectivement des rapports sexuels, mais tout à fait consentis avec le plaignant, qui confondu par les enquêteurs, est finalement revenu sur ses accusations.
Placés en garde à vue, les deux prévenus ont comparu devant le juge d’instruction ce jeudi 2 avril pour homosexualité, ainsi que fausses déclarations pour le vigile.
Rappelons que selon l’article 489 du code pénal marocain tous les «actes licencieux ou contre nature avec un individu du même sexe» sont passibles de peines pouvant aller jusqu’à trois ans de prison ou à des amendes de 120 à 1200 DH.

According to Al Sabah daily newspaper, it all started when a 25-year-old Moroccan man, who works as a security agent at a tourist resort, appeared before Agadir’s public prosecutor to file a rape complaint against the 35-year-old Canadian national.
The same source said the Moroccan man wanted to use the rape complaint as a cover to send the Canadian tourist to prison. The latter feared that the Canadian will share intimate pictures and videos of them engaging in homosexual behavior on the internet.
Based on the complaint filed by the security agent, the authorities raided the Canadian’s hotel room and confiscated an IPad Tablet, memory cards and flash drives containing pornographic videos and photos.
The Moroccan’s effort to shore up the cover-up backfired, as his Canadian “lover” confessed to the authorities that he “willingly” had sex with the complainant.
The pair is reportedly remanded in custody pending trial. The defendants are expected to appear before the investigating judge on Thursday on grounds of homosexual conduct and false statements.
Homosexuality and any sexual relations outside marriage are against the law in Morocco. Although homosexuality is legal in the West, it is not in Morocco. The Moroccan government is cracking down on tourists who come to Morocco with the sole purpose of engaging in sexual relationships.
