Les deux femmes étaient dans l’avion reliant Saint-Pétersbourg à Moscou lorsqu’elles ont aperçu Vitali Milonov, bien connu pour ses prises de positions homophobes. L’occasion ironique de s’immortaliser en train de s’embrasser, avec l’intitulé : «Nous sommes très heureuses. Lui, peut-être pas. Mais on s’en fiche ! »
«Session photo fondée sur la stupidité» répétait le député à l’origine de la loi contre la «propagande homosexuelle» qui, dépourvu, s’était d’abord contenté d’injures. «Je suis tolérant envers les minorités sexuelles. Mais cela montre que ces gens n’ont pas une orientation sexuelle normale et que leur déviance transparaît dans tous les aspects de leur vie. Je n’ai pas bien compris ce qu’elles étaient en train de faire, mais si elles ont le sens de l’humour, j’en ai un très bon également. Je vais peut-être continuer la plaisanterie en fermant leur club de lesbiennes à Saint-Pétersbourg ou leur interdire, pourquoi pas, de se réunir dans les lieux publics. Ce serait drôle ça aussi !»
Après les menaces, Vitaly Milonov est ainsi passé aux actes
Selon l’avocat du club, Vitaly Cherkasov, également conseil de l’association Agora, une ligue de défense des droits de l’Homme, «il n’y a pas de hasard». Il a déclaré sur la chaîne de télévision «Rain», que le bureau du procureur avait contacté les membres de la direction pour les interroger, suite à une centaine de plaintes, dont celle d’un certain groupe nommé «Moscou n’est pas Sodome – Saint-Pétersbourg n’est pas Gomorrhe», portant notamment sur la soi-disante présence de mineures qui s’arrangent pour entrer dans l’établissement.»
Il est pourtant bien stipulé dans les conditions d’adhésion, désormais affichées en grand sur la page du groupe, que seules les personnes âgées de plus de 18 ans sont admises. Avec l’obligation de joindre une copie du passeport, photo et date de naissance bien visibles, pour confirmer l’inscription. «Le pire, c’est que toutes les menaces découlent d’anonymes qui n’auront probablement jamais mis un pied à l’Infinity», explique Alexandra Stepanova, l’une des directrices du club, qui a relancé la provocation en partageant un nouveau cliché pris devant la porte du procureur et intitulé «contre l’homophobie». «Ils se contentent de préjuger en adressant leurs messages de haine au procureur. Pourtant, lors des contrôles, aucune de ces violations n’aura été constatée. Il est évident que Vitaly Milonov va tout tenter pour faire fermer notre club. Il a d’ailleurs précisé qu’il souhaitait “éradiquer” tous les établissements LGBT et espère remplacer le notre par une taverne dédiée à la musique caucasienne. »

The couple were flying from Moscow to St. Petersburg when they spotted St. Petersburg city councilman Vitaly Milonov, one of Russia’s most outspoken anti-LGBT politicians, in a neighboring row and snapped a selfie of themselves in protest.

“Attention! We only let members 18+ into the group. If we did not admit you into the group and you are over 18, write one of the administrators with a photo of your face on the background of your passport so that your birthdate is visible. We will only add you after these procedures verifying you are over 18,” Infinity’s group page read when accessed Thursday. Cherkasov said it was possible some teens had joined the online community by lying to the administrators about their age and that Infinity was open to improving its controls on access to the group. instagram.com A group on VKontake called “Moscow is not Sodom! St. Petersburg is not Gomorrah!” appears to be responsible for a campaign sending in complaints to the prosecutor’s office that sparked the investigation.

“Let’s take a few minutes to write complaints to the prosecutor’s office about the lesbo club where sodomites corrupt underage girls. By the way, it’s employees of that particular club who staged a provocation a few days ago: in front of the passengers of Moscow-St. Petersburg flight, they demonstrated their perverse inclinations that caused a scandal on the internet,” a message posted to the group reads, according to a screenshot published by TV Rain.
The post includes a link to the St. Petersburg prosecutor’s office website and instructions on how to file a complaint.

“Some anonymous people who’ve probably never been to our club before simply tossed unnecessary work onto the prosecutors, distracting them from really important matters,” Alexandra Stepanova, one of the club’s directors, told the Russian news site Fontanka. “During the checks, they did not identify any violations. [Russian government communications watchdog] Roskomnadzor is currently checking our group on Vkontakte for the presence of violations.”
Vitaly Milonov, the lawmaker in the background of the kissing photo, previously threatened to “expel all the perverts from St. Petersburg” with help from whip-wielding Cossacks and shut down the city’s LGBT clubs.
