18 mois après leur idyllique cérémonie d’engagement à Hawaii, Beth Ditto, radieuse, est désormais officiellement, depuis ce 31 décembre 2014, l’épouse de Kristin Ogata.
Et c’est dans l’Oregon, où le “mariage entre conjoints de même sexe” est autorisé depuis mai 2014, que les deux femmes ont choisi de célébrer leur union, en cette veillée du premier jour de l’année :
« Enfin mariées légalement, un an plus tard ! » a partagé Mary Beth Patterson (de son vrai nom) sur facebook le 6 janvier dernier, avec une photo du couple souriant à l’avenir : « Merci à toutes celles et ceux qui se sont battus pour rendre le “mariage gay” légal dans l’Oregon ! Et en 2015, dans tous les États-Unis ! » et d’ajouter, en présentant ses vœux sur Instagram « je suis devenue une Ogata !!! C’est officiel et légal !!!!!!! Vive 2015 ! Et bon débarras 2014 !! Bonjour à l’avenir » qui s’annonce radieux.
En juin 2013, resplendissante en Jean-Paul Gaultier, pieds nus et main dans la main avec sa désormais épouse, Kristin, la chanteuse “militante” et leader du groupe Gossip échangeait déjà, mais “symboliquement” ses vœux. Elle l’annonçait le mois suivant, en remerciant notamment le créateur de sa “robe-tutu”, dans un cliché partagé sur les réseaux de la cérémonie, témoin d’un moment inoubliable sur la plage.

The singer and campaigner announced the news on Facebook, saying: “Legally married finally, a year later! Thanks everyone who fought to make gay marriage legal in Oregon! In 2015, the whole US!”
On Instagram, she added: “HAPPPY NEW YEAR! Today I became an Ogata!!! It’s official and legal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here’s to 2015! Gooood f**king riddance 2014!!!! HELLLLLO BRIGHT FUTURE!”
The couple’s first ceremony was in July 2013. Gay marriage was legalised in the state of Oregon in May 2014. Ditto and Ogata are said to have married on New Year’s Eve.
The Gossip first made an impact in 2006.
Ditto has always been open about her sexuality, telling the Guardian: “I represent a scene. The homos and the weirdos know that our band is always going to be their friend. And at home, most of my friends play music and most of them are gay, and that’s the truth. The old drummer of Gossip, she’s the only straight girl I know. And every single one of her friends is gay. That’s my scene.”
In the US, gay marriage is now legal in 37 states after heavy campaigning from equal-rights groups.
