Parmi les 15 concurrents en lice pour la couronne ce week-end à Vienne, le jeune suédois a non seulement conquis le cœur des juges grâce à son sourire imparable, mais a également largement pris le dessus de la compétition tout au long des défis. Transition dans son apprentissage, il est interprète et étudiant en danse classique, ce qui lui a conféré l’atout de l’endurance physique.
“En m’inscrivant au concours, j’avais décidé de m’entraîner un maximum pour en faire une véritable aventure cet été. Et je suis heureux de pouvoir montrer l’exemple et servir de modèle à des plus jeunes, LGBT ou pas, qui redoutent encore de s’affirmer tels qu’ils sont. Je reçois d’ailleurs pas mal de messages de soutien, et j’en suis sincèrement très fier.”
Les cinq autres finalistes étaient Robert Prolic, 23 ans, qui représentait l’Autriche, Stuart Hatton Jr, de 29 ans, pour le Royaume-Uni, Christian-Laurtisen Sebastian, de 22 ans, pour le Danemark et Nick Flanagan, 22 ans également, pour l’Irlande du Nord.
En tant que “grand gagnant”, Jack Johansson devrait participer à la plupart des prochains événements LGBTI à travers l’Europe.

>> Meet Mr Gay Europe, a 20-year-old Swede named Jack Johansson.
A ballet student and performer, he was the youngest competitor of the 15 delegates vying for the crown of (young, male, hairless from the neck down) gay Europe.
The competition took place in Vienna during the weekend, with Johansson taking on the different talent, modelling, and sports challenges.
Austrian Robert Prolic was first runner-up, with Brit Stuart Hatton Jr and Dane Christian Sebastian rounding out the top four.
As the winner Johansson will be flying all over the world to Pride and other LGBTI events across Europe.
He said: ‘When I got secretly nominated for Mr. Gay Sweden, I decided to participate and make it a summer adventure as I had work the whole summer.
‘And when I won, I realized that a lot of people, especially young boys, saw me as a role model – to be a role model for boys and girls who don’t really know who they are, and to be able to guide them through their hard times has been a true privilege. I have received a lot of mail varying from young boys needing guiding to old men needing acceptance.
He added: ‘To continue be a person that not openly gay people can rely on, but everyone.’
