Alors que la Finlande, ex-modèle économique européen, traverse une crise similaire à celle de la France, avec un taux de chômage qui atteint des niveaux particulièrement élevés pour le pays, l’association “pour le vrai mariage”, “copycat” de la Manif pour tous, vient d’annoncer ce 19 juillet avoir recueilli les 50.000 signatures requises par le système finlandais, pour exiger du Parlement un “réexamen” de la loi ouvrant le mariage aux couples de même sexe.
La pétition, transmise au Centre national des registres de la population, pour procéder à l’authentification des signataires, restera en ligne jusqu’en septembre prochain.
Mais déjà, parmi les dix sept membres de l’Assemblée, seulement trois élus, eurosceptiques, centristes et populistes, ont annoncé souscrire au projet. Tandis que pour la majorité, “il y a des amendements plus importants à débattre” !
Approuvée en novembre dernier, à l’initiative justement d’une première proposition de loi d’initiative populaire, la réforme du mariage devrait cependant entrer en application en mars 2017, comme le stipule le texte, qui accorde également aux couples homosexuels les mêmes droits que pour les couples hétérosexuels, notamment en ce qui concerne l’adoption ou le partage d’un même patronyme.

>> A petition in Finland has gathered enough signatures to force parliament to debate reversing the gender-neutral marriage law it passed in November last year.
The petition, started by the Association for Real Marriage, reached the required 50,000 signatures at 6pm on Sunday (19 July), Finland’s national broadcaster Yle reported.
Under the terms of the citizens’ initiative scheme, the petition still had 2 and a half months to collect signatures.
It will now be passed to Finland’s Population Register Center to verify that they are genuine.
The committee’s 17 members were asked their view on the matter as part of Yle’s election machine ahead of April’s vote, and all but two answered. Twelve said that they would vote ‘no’ to any move to rescind the marriage law, while three said they would approve any move to cancel the legislation.
President Sauli Niinistö signed the gender-neutral marriage law in February and it is due to come into force in March 2017. However, several other bills need to be passed by the end of the year before it can take effect.
It was the first law in Finland to start as an online petition – and could be first to be scrapped because of a petition too.
