Austin et Aaron Rhodes, deux jeunes hommes populaires sur les réseaux sociaux, ont décidé d’annoncer à leur père qu’ils étaient tous les deux homosexuels. Mercredi derniers, ils se sont donc filmés en train de l’appeler avant de partager la vidéo à leurs abonnés sur YouTube.
« L’année 2015 est arrivée et nous pensons qu’il est désormais temps d’être nous-mêmes », explique d’abord Aaron, avant d’annoncer qu’il est homosexuel et son frère Austin également : « Nous avons annoncé notre homosexualité à toute notre famille, sauf à notre père, alors nous allons l’appeler… » Mais, les mots ne sortent pas. Aaron se met à pleurer et passe alors le téléphone à son frère Austin qui n’arrive pas non plus à contenir ses larmes. Aaron reprend donc la communication et finit par lâcher, la voix tremblante : « Je ne sais pas comment te le dire autrement… Mais, je suis gay. Et Austin l’est aussi. »
À l’autre bout du fil, leur père les rassure. « C’est la vie, vous savez… Vous êtes une génération différente de la mienne. Je ne sais pas vraiment quoi dire. Je vous aime tous les deux. Ça ne changera jamais. Vous devez vivre votre vie, faire ce que vous avez à faire… Je ne vais pas pour autant cesser d’être votre papa… »
Tendresse et émotion, si l’important dans la vie est d’assumer la personne que nous sommes, les frères complices remportent la palme !

This week, the pair decided to start off 2015 in a major way by utilizing their platform to both come out as gay to their father over the phone while recording the event in order to share it with their followers — and the world.
This video inspires a roller coaster of emotions, as the boys initially struggle to get the words out. When they finally do, their father offers the perfect response to his sons: “It’s the way things are, you know? You’re grown people. You grew up in a lot different generation than me. I just don’t really know what to say — you know I love you both and that’ll never change.”
When individuals come out of the closet we’re always moved and inspired but there’s something especially incredible about a set of twins living authentically and openly together (and letting us take part in such a special moment).
Last August another pair of twins and YouTube personalities, Luke and Adam Monastero, also came out to their parents and caught it all on camera.
Additionally, in 2011 a gay airman called his mother just hours after the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in order to come out and put the whole experience on YouTube.
